Wii U console sales are on the up in Japan thanks to the launch of Koei Tecmo’s Hyrule Warriors.

The Nintendo system shifted 18,161 units in the week ended August 17, up from 13,598 the week prior. It’s safe to assume the bump is down to the 69,090 sales of Hyrule Warriors, enough to see the game chart in second place.

Nintendo must also be pretty pleased with the staying power of Mario Kart 8 at No.4 thanks to a further 28,221 copies sold.

Things still aren’t looking fantastic for the PS4, however, with console sales of just 6,913 units – that’s actually up from only 5,470 the week before.

Hyrule Warriors launches in the UK on September 19.
