The Wii U’s controller will sport a display carrying a resolution of 854×480, the industry standard for wide-VGA, according to calculations made by Entertainment site Golgotron.
The stat was obtained by analysing high resolution images of the controller, which revealed the screen to be approximately 870 pixels wide – a slight margin of error is assumed.
“854 x 480 is a very common widescreen resolution, and it’s within 2 per cent of our not-scientific-enough measurement,” the report read.

The resolution is slightly lower than the likes of the PS Vita and iPhone 4, but should be high enough to deliver a good quality image on a six inch screen size.
