Wii U console sales reportedly managed a 125 per cent increase around the launch of Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate, anonymous retail sources have told MCV.

In addition to attributing the rise to interest in Monster Hunter, last month’s hefty £140 price cut on the Premium ZombiU console at HMV must have helped.

New release Lego City Undercover isn’t said to have improved console sales.

Demand for Monster Hunter clearly isn’t that strong, however, with the game dropping from No.7 to No.39 in today’s UK Video Game Chart.
