In what could be the most bizarre PR response you’ll ever see, Ubisoft has confirmed that the Wii U box art designs posted by Amazon yesterday are “legit”.

“Why yes, the Wii U box art you sent is legit,” Ubisoft rep Michael Beadle allegedly told GameTrailers. “In fact, it’s too legit to quit.”

Quite.

The covers of three Ubisoft Wii U games – Assassin’s Creed III, Marvel Avengers Assemble and Just Dance 4 – surfaced on Amazon’s website yesterday, prompting speculation that they could show the final box art design for Wii U games.

Later in the day, it was discovered that the box art for FIFA 13 on Wii U had been posted on GameStop, adding credence to the rumours.

The Wii U box art design features a blue banner with a gold trim running across the top of the box, and the Wii U logo centralised within.
