Quarterly sales of 210,000 units were enough to push lifetime sales of the Wii console past the 100 million milestone.

Life to date Wii sales now stand at 100.04 million units, while software sales stand at 87.273 million units.

Nintendo forecasts two million Wii sales in the year ending March 31, 2014, suggesting the system will tail off before it can reach the 118m sales of the Game Boy.

There seems little chance that the Wii will come close to beating the 153.93m DS units sold.

Meanwhile, the Wii U only managed to sell 160,000 Wii U console units in the quarter ended June 30, 2013, bringing life-to-date sales to 3.61m units.
