High Voltage Software has officially announced The Conduit, a new first-person shooter for the Wii which, thanks to the proprietary Quantum 3 Game Engine, promises to feature some of the best visuals seen to date on the console.
With Quantum 3 High Voltage Software is bringing fast and fluid gameplay together with an advanced set of visuals which it hopes will establish the Wii as a “true next-generation gaming platform”. Some of the graphical features include dynamic environment mapping, interactive water with real-time reflection, and four-stage texture composition including gloss, diffuse, and bump mapping.
“Too many Wii owners have been told that the Wii is a casual platform with no room for serious games or top-tier graphics,” said Eric Nofsinger, Chief Creative Officer at High Voltage Software. “With The Conduit, we intend to prove that theory wrong by providing gamers with the kind of title they imagined back when the platform was first announced.”
The game will feature competitive online multiplayer and a single-player campaign packed full of alien creatures, advanced AI and rich story. Players take on the role of Secret Service Agent Ford and must learn to master a range of weapons and the special All Seeing Eye device.
It’s not all about the visuals, with High Voltage having developed the game’s control scheme from the ground up with the Wii in mind.
The game is currently without a publisher, but High Voltage says interest has been “overwhelming” and will continue to search for a publishing partner. High Voltage is expecting the game to hit stores in Q1 2009.
