The Wii has been discontinued, but only in Japan, Nintendo of America has confirmed to GameSpot.

“The announcement that the Wii console has been discontinued is specific to Japan,” a Nintendo representative explained to GameSpot. “There is no change in the status of Wii in the United States, and it is available for purchase this holiday season.”

Whilst not specific about Europe, the statement indicates that only Japan has been affected.

The Wii has sold over 100 million units worldwide and has perhaps one more holiday season left in it – especially if pricing is low.
