At launch the Wii’s only available channel will be the Wii Shop Channel, which importantly will be the place gamers can purchase Virtual Console titles, of which there will be a selection of NES, SNES, N64, Mega Drive and TurboGrafx16 titles from day one.
Not making launch are the News Channel, the Weather Channel and the Wii web browser. The Wii News Channel will not launch until January 27, with the Weather Channel arriving a little sooner on December 20.
The Wii web browser, which is being developed by Opera, has not been given a release date. What we do know is that it will be free to download until June 2007, and Nintendo has said that more details will be announced in the coming months.
The Wii goes on sales in North America on November 19, then in Japan on December 2, and will finally make it to the UK on December 8.
