The release date and time countdown for when the highly anticipated Where Winds Meet will come out has been confirmed, and the game has received some mixed reviews in the first batch of final impressions shared. It is a free-to-play open-world experience waiting to be explored on PS5 and PC, and fortunately you don’t have too much longer to wait.

Official Where Winds Meet Release Time

The official release time for when Where Winds Meet will come out is 2PM PT/5PM ET/10PM GMT on November 14th. These launch hours come courtesy of a release time map shared by the developer.

It will be available to play on PS5 as well as PC through both Steam and the Epic Games store. Before getting the game, you should know that it is online only. Yes, there is single-player and multiplayer available, but you will need an internet connection to play at all times, even if you intend to be solo.

How to Preload Where Winds Meet

You can preload Where Winds Meet starting from 2PM PT/5PM ET/10PM GMT on November 12th. It is available to preload for both Steam and PS5, but there’s no mention of the Epic Games store.

The ability to preload is always welcomed, especially when the file size is massive. PC has three file sizes with Lite at 68GB, Standard at 100GB, and Ultimate at 120GB, but on the PS5 it’s strictly 108GB.

It is free-to-play and you do not need to pre-order to preload from either Steam or the PSN store. However, there is a pre-order available with bonuses for £14.99/$14.99:

Pre-order Bonuses

  • In-game Appearance Set: Appearance Custom Pack x1
  • In-game Name Card: Astral Trail Name Card Background x1
  • In-game Common Currency: Coin x10,000
  • In-game Draw Token: Lingering Melody x2

First Reviews are Mixed

There’s only eight reviews out for the game as of writing, and it currently has a 72 on Metacritic. IGN gave it a 6/10, and they view it as a game “throttled by the storm of its own lofty aspirations”. IGN believe that it has great characters and combat, but it tries to shove in too many different experiences. It is an open world adventure with action-heavy MMO, musical rhythm games, card battler, etc, and none of these features reach their full potential.

On the flip side, Wccftech gave it an 8.5. They have hailed the game’s vast array of excellent content available at launch, and they believe it has the potential to become a massive phenomenon. Whether it reaches that potential remains to be seen, but Wccftech believes it can happen provided the “studio continue updating every aspect of their game while maintaining this level of quality and fair monetization”.

Fortunately, Where Winds Meet is free-to-play so you can try the game for yourself. It’s been highly anticipated ever since it was announced for PS5 at the State of Play in May 2024, and we don’t have too much longer left to wait.
