PES 2015 on PS4 and Xbox One will be the first entry in the series to make full use of Kojima Productions’ Fox Engine, Konami has said.
‘But last year’s game used Fox Engine,’ I hear you say. You’re right, but Konami says this was only using Fox in “an embryonic form”.
On PS4 and Xbox One we’re promised “a level of visual acuity and in-game advances that were previously impossible”.
The key benefits include:
Behavioural Patterns: PES 2015 now boasts players that both look and play like their real-life counterparts. Konami says it has recreated over 1,000 players with bespoke animations and playing styles. A player’s frame of mind even affects how they perform on the pitch.
Poetry in Motion: Player individuality is further enhanced with seamless animations. Movements are said to flow into each other thanks to real-time calculations which are dependent on the player’s position in relation to the ball and its speed.
Bring the Noise: The game aims to mirror the atmosphere of a top-flight football match. The crowd animations have been enhanced, and all the action is matched with context-sensitive crowd effects and movements.
Let There Be Light: Real-time lighting is used across the entire stadium, be that the changing light of day or the glaring floodlights of a night match.
In the coming months look out for details regarding game presentation, ball physics related to weather conditions, new leagues, enhanced editing functionality, online systems and cheating tech.
PES 2015 is without a firm release date, but Konami says it “will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and additional formats during autumn/winter period of 2014”.
