Watch Dogs 2 dropped to No.6 in the UK video game chart on its second week, but Black Friday promotions meant the game actually recorded stronger sales than at launch, reports GamesIndustry.

Launch week sales for Watch Dogs 2 were reported to be way down on the first game.

“It is true that first-day and first-week sales for a number of big games, including Watch Dogs 2 and titles from our competitors, are comparatively lower than previous versions in previous years,” commented Ubisoft. “However, we expect both week-two and week-three sales to be above traditional sales patterns.”

So far the publisher is correct, with second week sales way above the traditional week two decline.

GamesIndustry notes that the install base for the game in the UK is now in-line with the performance of recent Assassin’s Creed titles.

How sales hold up over the coming weeks could well determine if Watch Dogs 2 is ultimately deemed a success or failure for Ubisoft.
