Warzone receives its final season – Season 5 Last Stand.

Warzone 2 will follow the penultimate season, which drops in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Warzone Season 5 Last Stand brings in Heroes vs. Villains, a Last Stand community event, plus game mode rotation, a new battle pass, a new caldera mode, new map updates, bug fixes, quality of life improvements, and more.

Warzone’s latest season dropped yesterday and one of the more interesting additions is Heroes vs Villains, which will run up until September 14th.

During this event, you are going to need to pick a side. You will  Score faction points by collecting Villain or Hero Tokens or by contributing to them at the Buy Station in all game modes.

The winning team’s unique Weapon Blueprint will be given to everyone following the event.

layers also have the chance to earn other exclusive rewards like the Legendary animated “One vs. One” Calling Card, the Hero’s or Villain’s Weapon Charm, the “Conflict Spike” Melee Weapon Blueprint, the “Time Duality” Watch, and more.

New Caldera modes & updates

As part of the season launch, a limited-time mode has been added, which is inspired by the classic Search & Destroy.

Operation: Last Call has players first choose a side, one will be defending Caldera by defusing bombs, and the other will be sabotaging the island by detonating the explosives at designated bomb sites.

  • It’s a full-map mode
  • Players start with their Loadout
  • Resurgence respawn system is activated but Players cannot get wiped
  • It’s raining giant lava rocks!
    • Players should keep an eye on the Volcano Meter for a read on volcanic activity, also represented by an increasingly smokey atmosphere.

Fortune’s Keep Resurgence mode has been adjusted:

  • Solos: 
    • 50 Players, up from 45
    • +5 teams
  • Duos: 
    • 50 Players, up from 46
    • +2 teams
  • Trios: 
    • 51 Players, up from 45
    • +2 teams
  • Quads:

Season 5 Caldera map updates

Volcanic Peak Reworked POI:

Heightened volcanic activity has been recorded at Caldera, with a major geological event occurring with the launch of Season Five.

Battle around a transformed Peak as lava runs down the mountainside in all modes and shoots out over the island during Operation: Last Call.

Task Force Tyrants HQ POI Expansion:

Peak has gotten a makeover, turning it into an evil lair.

It looks incredible, with flowing lava, basalt columns, stepping stones, plus a giant, colorful, ornate crest,

Boiler Room New Gulag:

The new volcanic-themed Gulag has been redone and oh boy does it look hot.

Sun Rays Through Smoke New Weather and Lighting:

The new addition of sunlight peeking through the stormy clouds and the smoke spewing from the Volcano on Caldera is a beautiful addition.

Rebirth island also sees new weather and lighting changes, featuring a warm and lush sunset casting a vibrant hue over the map.

Rebirth Island will also receive z special limited-time mode called “Rebirth After Dark”.

Warzone Bug Fixes

  • Fixed collision issues with various elements across Caldera/Fortune’s Keep allowing Players to exploit/peek/shoot through them.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Player from equipping Armor Plates after interacting with a Buy Station.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Player to be unable to buy back a teammate when the Hardline Perk was equipped.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Prestige Levels to display incorrectly in the Barracks.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some Emblems and Calling Cards to be unequipped automatically.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Out of Bounds warning to get stuck on-screen in a pre-match lobby.

Warzone Season 5 Weapon updates

Ravensoftware stated that Season 5 “is all about widening options even further by addressing the top performers to be more in-line, along with lifting up both individual Weapons and classes of Weapons that are under-utilized“.

This includes:

  • Vanguard Marksman Rifles now have Assault Rifle Ammunition
  • Variable Scopes (3-6 & 4-8) have been adjusted significantly 
  • Aggressive and Heavy sniper rifles will see a large reduction
  • EX1(VG) balancing

There are also new weapons coming:

  • EX1: Assault Rifle (VG)
  • RA 225: Submachine Gun (VG)

Weapon adjustments roll out for season 5 are as follows:

Assault Rifles

AS44 (VG)

  • Max Damage decreased to 22, down from 24
  • Kovalevskaya 615mm 
    • Damage Range Increased to 30%, up from 20% 
    • Vertical Recoil Control increased to 15%, up from 12%
  • ZAC 12B Custom
    • Initial Firing Recoil increased to 14%, up from 10% 
    • Movement Speed penalty decreased to -3%, up from -4%
