Rumours of the cancellation cropped up on RumorReport.com, in an article which claimed that an unknown game was in severe trouble. An unnamed inside source working on the game claimed that development had “stalled completely.“. The report went on to reveal that a new director had been brought onboard to save the project, but Sony Computer Entertainment America had decided to bail in order to “stop the bleeding.”
The rumour website then went on to say that the game may end up on the PlayStation Store in downloadable form, offering gamers the four missions that have already been completed. With Warhawk being one of the big titles we haven’t seen a lot of lately, it quickly became linked to the report.
However, it’s now been confirmed by Sony that the game is still very much going ahead as planned.
“The rumours are false,” a Sony rep told GameSpot. “We’re still in development with the same team at Incognito and we’re excited to show the progress of the game to media within the next month or so.“
As one of the first PlayStation 3 games to be shown running on real PlayStation 3 hardware, Incognito’s air and ground-based action game was expected to arrive alongside the console at its launch. This didn’t happen and Sony now says it will “confirm an updated release date” soon.
