Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3 has been officially announced by Saber Interactive and Games Workshop. Following the huge success of Space Marine 2, which saw Warhammer owner Games Workshop actively hunt for another hit, a full sequel is entering development.

Despite the third game entering development, Saber Interactive is keen to make sure that players of the second game are not left behind. While Space Marine 3 starts its journey to release, Space Marine 2 will still be supported with a host of post-launch content.

Space Marine 3 won’t stop Space Marine 2 content

Following the announcement of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3, Focus Entertainment media and partnerships director Nicolas Weil explained that the second game will continue to be supported into the future.

Following Saber’s years of support for previous games like World War Z, the studio isn’t going to stop working on the second game in the series. With a Horde Mode on the way and additional Operations and events, there’s still years of support coming for the title.

“We’ll come back with more when ready, but this will take a while,” Weil told fans. “The focus is fully on Space Marine 2 and its incredible fans for now.

Creating the third game in the series will undoubtedly take a number of years, giving Space Marine 2 plenty of time to continue building its post-launch content. While this does mean that the considered potential story DLC for the second game will likely not happen, fans won’t be left behind to focus on a new game.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is one of Saber’s most successful launches yet, and one of the best-selling games in the Warhammer franchise. For a series that has been developing video games since 1991, with the first 40K game in 1992, that’s an incredible feat.

Alongside Space Marine 3, Saber is also working on a host of other games including Jurassic Park Survival, a Turok reboot and more.
