Relic Entertainment’s Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Enhanced Edition releases very soon on August 14th. Bringing the base game, it’s four expansions and nine factions back with enhanced visuals, an improved camera, and 64-bit platform support, the new remaster looks to be a fantastic return for the best 40K RTS.

While the game has seen some pushback for minor audio changes in the game’s intro cinematic, Relic Entertainment’s new remaster comes with a major discount for fans of the original game.

Dawn of War Definitive Edition gives fans a huge discount

Announced by Relic Entertainment in a recent press release, players who own the Anniversary Edition of Dawn of War on Steam or GOG will receive a substantial discount on the new version. Existing players will be given a 30% discount on the new remaster’s $29.99 pricetag.

The discount will be automatically applied when the new Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition is made available to sale closer to launch. This means that players who own the Anniversary Edition will be able to upgrade to the new version for just $21 which sounds pretty damn great.

The discount for Dawn of War Definitive Edition on Steam and GOG comes after backlash for the most recent Warhammer 40K remaster: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition. With no discount process available for the game on launch, although there is one now, the botched remaster released to Mostly Negative reviews.

While Dawn of War 3 was a bit of disaster, it’s great to see the series come back in any form. Hopefully, if this remaster does well enough, we could even get a Dawn of War 4 one day. While there’s no new RTS from Relic on the way, there are more Warhammer 40K games in development.

Alongside continued development of Space Marine 2 post-launch content, Saber Interactive are also working on early development of Space Marine 3. Additionally, Owlcat Games is working on more DLC for Rogue Trader as well as a brand-new RPG in the form of Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy.
