Developer Complex Games have offered up a behind the scenes look at upcoming tactical RPG Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters.
In the first of what will be a three part series, the first video explains the game’s core mechanics. It’s described as a “fast paced, turn-based tactical RPG” that’s set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The game’s campaign mode will see you take charge of a battalion of Grey Knights as they fight to stop a plot to infect worlds with a deadly cosmic plague called The Bloom.
Your force will have access to a wide variety of arms and equipment, which you’ll be able to customise. The game’s tactical combat will play out similar to the XCOM series, but with a Warhammer twist. You’ll have to use the environment to your advantage, able to take out cover and destroy obstacles to change the environment to your advantage.
As you complete missions, you’ll be able to upgrade and customise your squad both cosmetically and with new abilities. You’ll also Specialist classes will also have their own unique equipment and skill trees. However, you’ll also have to repair and upgrade your base to train your squad in their new roles.
