A new trailer for upcoming action slasher Wanted: Dead has dropped at the South by Southwest festival in Texas.

The game itself was first revealed back in October and comes from former developers of the Ninja Gaiden series. You’ll play as Lt Hannah Stone who leads an elite team that works outside of the traditional police known as the ‘Zombie Squad’.

You can expect plenty of blades and bullets then, and if this trailer is anything to go by lots of gory dismemberment too. It’s all set in a dystopian cyberpunk version of Hong Kong, with a suitably moody atmosphere. The characters meanwhile, spit off one liners and foulmouthed wisecracks like an 80s action movie, so it seems like a good contrast of themes there.

You’ll face off against plenty of bad guys, and from the trailer it looks like you’ll also be tussling with a mech. We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays into the game’s story as we don’t really know much about that yet. But we are assured Stone seems to be a classic loose cannon detective, getting chewed out by her boss like most police heroes of those aforementioned 80s action movies.

There’s still no release date for the game yet, but in the meantime you can check out the new gameplay trailer (care of IGN) down below. Wanted: Dead is currently in development for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
