The Walking Dead: Episode 3 will be released in August, Telltale has said.

The release of Episode 2: Starved For Help was delayed until the end of June, two months after the original target of late May. And European PS3 owners were forced to wait until yesterday for the game to hit PSN.

But despite these issues, Telltale insists that the third episode will stick to the original one-a-month schedule.

“For many of you, the most important thing is to let you know when the next episode (Episode 3: Long Road Ahead) will be available,” reads a post on the studio’s blog. “And although we can’t give you an exact date at this time, we can say that episode three will be ready in the middle of August, and that we and our partners will do all that we can to release all platforms and regions as close together as possible.”

“The response to episode two has been overwhelmingly positive and we can’t say enough about how much we appreciate everyone enjoying what we are creating. We’re truly humbled by your continuing support.”

While most critics agree that the game content is great, the reaction hasn’t been overwhelmingly positive. Despite his general praise for the writing and tone of Episode 2, VideoGamer.com freelancer Sam White look issue with the serious bugs it contained – resulting in a score of 6.

As I mentioned on this week’s podcast, I was rather gutted that Episode 2 released with bugs – even if it seems the serious ones only affected a proportion of the overall audience.

On the one hand, I’m happy we’ll be getting the next chunk soon. On the other, I’d prefer it if the studio took its time and ironed out all the problems. Still, there’s a month and a half until mid-August, so hopefully that’ll be enough time.
