Vivendi Universal Games has joined a growing number of publishers who have licensed the Unreal Engine 3. The engine developed by Epic Games is designed to create games for the next generation consoles and PCs equipped with powerful graphics cards. The license will allow all of Vivendi Universal’s studios to use the Unreal Engine 3, but as yet no specific titles have been announced.

Unreal Engine 3 technology will enable us to create exceptional high-quality next-gen titles in a productive and cost-effective fashion,” said Peter Della Penna, VU Games’ executive vice president and chief operating officer, product development.

The Unreal Engine 3 has already been licensed by Midway, NCsoft, BioWare, Microsoft Game Studios and several others, with games using the engine including Gears of War, Huxley, Frame City Killer and Unreal Tournament 2007.
