SEGA has announced the May 2009 release of Virtua Tennis 2009 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

The much loved arcade style sports game is returning with a host of new features and improvements which hope to create a virtual tennis experience like no other.

Virtual Tennis 2009 will feature the world’s top tennis pros, including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams, Andy Murray and ladies French Open champion Ana Ivanovic. In addition to the traditional singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches, Virtua Tennis 2009 will also feature the official Davis Cup license, allowing players to lead their country to glory.

Also new will be additions such as player stumbling and improved volleying, serving and net play. The World Tour Mode has been given a bunch of new features, offering a fully integrated online system and new online ranking system. The Player Creation System in World Tour Mode has also been expanded, and a new look Tennis Store will contain over 800 items.

The popular court games will also return, offering fan favourites and new mini-games. Players will need to look out for crocodiles, fruit and pirates.

Virtua Tennis 2009 is scheduled for a May 2009 release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
