EA’s Peter Moore is leaving his position as chief competition officer at EA’s competitive gaming division to become CEO at Liverpool FC.

Moore, a lifelong fan of Liverpool FC, will join the club in the summer taking over from Ian Ayre.

“Passion is essential for all of us at Electronic Arts,” wrote EA CEO Andrew Wilson in the publisher’s statement.”It’s what gets us up in the morning and drives us to do extraordinary things. And if you’ve ever met Peter Moore, you know that he quite literally wears his passion for Liverpool FC on his sleeve. So it’s with great excitement that we congratulate Peter on following his dream to become the next CEO of his beloved Liverpool Football Club.”

Moore became a leading figure in the video games industry during his time at SEGA, then during the early Xbox years at Microsoft. He is probably most famous for his GTA IV tattoo moment, which you can see for yourself below.

In 2007 Moore joined EA, overseeing the sports division. In December 2015 Moore became the chief competition officer at EA’s competitive gaming division.

We wish Peter all the best at Liverpool FC, but not so much success that they finish above Spurs.
