According to Famitsu Weekly, Vanillaware is working on a new Wii action game titled Oboro Muramasa Youtouden.

The game will retain the striking 2D visuals the development studio is known for and will be set in what appears to be the feudal Japan era. Players will have the option to choose between the characters Momohime, a young girl who wields a katana, and Kisuke, a young ninja boy.

The game’s locations will be varied with players battling in cities, temples and grasslands, and you will come across enemies including samurai warriors, ghosts, monsters and celestial beings.

The controls are still a bit of mystery, although it has been revealed that a combination of button presses and motions will result in varied actions such as sword swipes and spells.

No release date has been announced at this time.
