A Valorant fan has put forward their concept for a potential weapon skin for the game that would tie in with the upcoming Barbie movie.
The bright candy-floss pink skin design by Vegod is perfectly suited to the aesthetic of the highly-anticipated movie, looking just like it could’ve come straight from the world of Barbie and Ken with the logo splashed across the gun barrel and the icon above the handle. The details on this fan-made skin are also impressive, including a 60’s-inspired flower motif plus loveheart pattern decal across the upper half of the gun.
Reactions to the gun from the community have been very positive so far, with many including KangaRogue pointing out that Riot would “make bank off crossover skins” such as this one. In fact, the official Twitter account of the GameChanger Charity also alludes to the fan-favourite double feature opportunity with the other big movie releasing on the same day. “Does it turn into Oppenheimer if you drop 25?”
It also wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for Barbie either, with the brand making a monumental push to serve the upcoming movie set to release on July 21. This has included reportedly more than a whopping 100 partnerships across many brands, including most relevantly, those in gaming such as Xbox. The console manufacturer has teamed up with Mattel to offer fans a specially Barbie Dreamhouse themed Xbox Series S.
It’s certainly interesting that Valorant hasn’t had many tie-ins with non-Riot properties at all. Earlier this year, the same fan also created an excellent Star Wars-themed skin that fans would no doubt lap up. It’s certainly a popular movie in the free-to-play sphere, as recently Fortnite fans have been demanding a Shrek crossover, while Call of Duty Warzone is about to mix things up with Amazon Video’s The Boys.
