Urban Trial Playground, the latest entry in Tate Multimedia’s super-charged stunt franchise, will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on April 5.

Eschewing the city-flavoured antics of previous entries in the million-selling series, Urban Trial Playground instead plumps for the sun-soaked beaches of California, bringing its trademark mix of stunts, combos, and tricks with it.

The new backdrop also brings about some fresh gameplay additions however, such as the first inclusion of independent front and rear brake controls. This allows budding daredevils to pull off some impressive stoppies and front flips, as well as execute longer combos and dirty great skid burns.

Players will be able to tuck into a number of game modes, including Freestyle and Time Trial, which also feature online leaderboards to test your skills against other players. There’s over 50 levels to beat, and if you’re feeling particularly competitive you can fire up the game’s local multiplayer mode for some split screen-based shenanigans.

There’s also a heap of customisation options available for the game’s five bikes, allowing you to tinker with features such as appearance, brakes, engine, vital parts, and other bits and bobs.

‘Our work with Nintendo in previous years has been incredibly successful, and we are very excited to continue creating new Urban Trial games as exclusives for their platforms. With the massive success of Nintendo Switch™ at launch we saw an opportunity to connect with a new, thriving and passionate community we simply couldn’t miss,’ said Tate Multimedia’s Joseph Debecki.
