Focus Interactive has released the first footage of upcoming real-time strategy Etherium – revealing a title that looks more than a little inspired by classic RTS Dune.
Due for release on PC this summer, Etherium sees three factions battling for control over a mysterious resource scattered across planets throughout the galaxy. As well as having access to a range of units including infantry, tanks, aircraft and huge ‘colossi of war’, players will also be able to make use of special skills unique to each faction, including climate control, espionage and precognition.
A dynamic weather system is also said to impact gameplay, with players able to freeze rivers to mount new attacks or use sandstorms to creep up on enemies under cover.
And, in addition to a non-linear single-player campaign that lets players choose which battles they want to engage in, Etherium will also feature a range of multiplayer modes, allowing up to four players to wage war online.
