Nathan Drake voice actor Nolan North has admitted the 'ship has kinda sailed' regarding Uncharted 5.

Speaking during an interview with OnlySP at Supanova Comic Con & Gaming, North, who has voiced the cheeky treasure hunter since Uncharted's inception in 2007, also commented that it was 'bittersweet' to pull the curtains down on Nate's globetrotting antics with 2016's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

However, it sounds like the chances of Drake returning for Uncharted 5 are pretty slim.

'A lot of people want the fifth Uncharted, but that ship has kinda sailed. It’s great that so many people can all remember such an iconic franchise,' said North. 'We didn’t know there’d be a second one. I just remember being really excited to do the second one, and when that one really took off, [Naughty Dog] pretty much knew there’d be a third and a fourth.'

'It wasn’t until the fourth one kind of started that there’s no fifth one and you’re going ‘Okay, what’s next?’ But you don’t want to jump the shark … It was bittersweet to end the franchise, but we’re proud of what we’ve made, and if that’s the way that Sony and Naughty Dog decide to leave it, then I’m fine with that.'

Naughty Dog's final entry in the series was 2017's Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which replaced Drake with Chloe Fraser and Nadine Ross.

While the future of the series remains up in the air, former creative director Amy Hennig reckons the studio has a lot of room to continue the franchise.
