Fresh multiplayer maps will be coming to Uncharted 3 this week as part of the game’s first chunk of DLC, developer Naughty Dog has announced.

The DLC offers revamped versions of Uncharted 2’s Cave, Fort, Lost City and Sanctuary multiplayer maps.

Visual updates come from new texture and weather effects, dynamic lighting, and particle effects.

The US PlayStation blog says that the content is already available in the US. A now-removed post on the EU PlayStation blog said the DLC would be sold an introductory price of €3.99/£3.19. The damage will eventually go up to €7.99/£6.49.

Subscribers to Uncharted 3’s season pass – dubbed the Fortune Hunter’s Club – will receive the content for free.

Naughty Dog community strategist Eric Monacelli also revealed what the developer has planned for future DLC:

“Besides the fun new maps you’ll be playing on today, we wanted to tell you about some future hits of DLC. We have three new character skins packs coming at you next. The Rogues Pack 1 and Rogues Pack 2 will let you play as some of the major thugs and minor characters from UNCHARTED 3. Donut Pack 1 will giant-size some of your favourite UNCHARTED 3 heroes and villains.”

“Let it be publicly known that Nathan Drake is a card-carrying member of the rather exclusive club of video game characters I have a whopping big man crush for,” I said in my 9/10 Uncharted 3 review.
