The ultra violent beat ’em-up finally makes its way onto Xbox Live Arcade, complete with online play and 12 achievements. The game costs 800 Microsoft points, and brings together 22 fighters and an array of Fatalities, Brutalities, Friendships and Babalities.

There’s also a variety of game modes, including the new Challenger Versus Mode in which you and three friends battle it out in a winner-stays-on tournament. Statistics are recorded on a weekly and all-time basis, and a leaderboard shows wins and losses – showing who is the ultimate Mortal Kombat player.

There were some problems with the game when it was first released on Xbox Live Arcade, but these appear to be all sorted now. Elsewhere, MK1, the latest game in th Mortal Kombat series is out this year (2023). Check out everything you need to know about the MK1 early access start time and date.
