Nintendo has announced a bunch of stats relating to its UK operations, notably that the Wii has surpassed sales of two million units, moving ahead of the Xbox 360’s install base. Thanks to the success of the Wii Nintendo held a 45% market share for the home console market in the UK during 2007.

The two million the Wii has sold is nothing compared to the five million install base the Nintendo DS has built up. For 2007 Nintendo recorded a 79% market share on the handheld console market.

Nintendo’s Touch! Generations software range accounted for 56% of all first-party software sold for Nintendo DS in 2007 within the UK, highlighting the success of the Nintendo DS amongst people of all ages, skill levels and sex.
