Nintendo appears unstoppable at the moment. Following the record setting release of Mario Kart Wii comes Wii Fit, which has become the sixth-fastest selling video game in the UK – only titles from the GTA, Halo and Gran Turismo franchises have gotten off to a faster start.
Wii Fit, which retails for £69.99, was bought by approximately 1 in 10 UK Wii owners during its first two days on release, raking in £16.3 million. This makes it the third largest launch in terms of value, behind GTA San Andreas (£24.2 million) and Halo 3 (£16.9 million).
The Wii is now almost totally dominant in the UK, with titles on the console accounting for seven of the Top Ten places in the Individual Formats chart. Expect GTA 4 to take the No.1 spot in next week’s chart.
