Sony’s Killzone 2 failed to make it two weeks at the top of the All Formats All Prices chart, with SEGA’s Empire: Total War, a PC exclusive RTS, taking the crown.
The highly anticipated RTS is the fastest selling in the Total War series, recording almost twice the launch week sales of previous fastest-sellers Rome: Total War and Medieval II. It’s also the first PC game to claim the All Formats All Prices No.1 spot since SEGA’s Football Manager 2008 back in October 2007.
Second week sales of Killzone 2 slumped 58 per cent, but the game only missed out on the top spot by around 1,600 units. Wii Fit is up to No.3 thanks to a 31 per cent rise in sales and Ubisoft’s HAWX is a new entry at No.4 – No.2 in the PS3 and Xbox 360 charts. Halo Wars slips to No.5 – sales down 54 per cent – Professor Layton slides to No.6 and Street Fighter IV drops 59 per cent to No.7. FIFA 09 is down a place to No.8, CoD: World at War drops to No.9 and Ben 10: Alien Force is at No.10.
The only other new entry inside the Top 40 is Mario Power Tennis. The New Play Control version of the classic GameCube tennis title makes an appearance at No.23.
It looks pretty certain that Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 will storm the chart next week, but which platform will come out on top? Find out next week.
