Metro: Last Light has become the UK’s latest no. 1 in the Top 40 All-Formats Chart – despite failing to sell as many copies as predecessor Metro 2033 achieved during its opening week.

The statistic is a worrying sign for UK retail whose performance continues to struggle. Metro 2033 released in March 2010, debuting at no. 5 in the All-Formats Chart.

Elsewhere in this week’s charts, last week’s no. 1 Dead Island Riptide falls a spot to no.2, while FIFA 13 climbs two places to no.3.

3DS’s Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity enters at no.4, making it the third-best week one-selling game for the franchise.

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Tomb Raider both slip three places to no.5 and no.6 respectively, with The Walking Dead climbing two spots to no.7.

The greatest climber this week is Sleeping Dogs, climbing eight places to no.28, with the biggest faller, Aliens: Colonial Marines, slipping a a massive sixteen places to no.39.
