Capcom has ended EA’s vice-like grip on the top of the chart, with the highly anticipated release of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition on the Xbox 360. The game jumps straight to the No.1 spot, ahead of fellow new entry WarioWare: Smooth Moves, which enters the chart at No.2.

Lost Planet becomes the fifth Xbox 360 exclusive game to make the No.1 spot, the others being Capcom’s Dead Rising, Microsoft’s Dead or Alive 4, THQ’s Saints Row, and Microsoft’s Gears of War.

This week’s other new entry is World Snooker Championship 2007 at No.17, which should be helped by the Snooker Masters currently taking place. It’s also been a good week for Wii games. Not only did WarioWare: Smooth Moves make it to No.2, but Zelda: Twilight Princess makes a huge leap to eighth, and Wii Play and Red Steel have re-entered the top 40 at No.19 and No.34 respectively.

It’s not usual to be talking about an MMO in this part of the chart news, but the release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade isn’t your average MMO release. With more than eight million subscribers worldwide, WoW is a force to be reckoned with and it would be no surprise to see The Burning Crusade atop of the All Formats chart this time next week.
