We were away last week so first you should know that King Kong finally made it to the top spot with an impressive rise in sales in the run up to Christmas. King Kong’s reign at the top has proved to be short lived though, as EA’s Need for Speed: Most Wanted is now back at the top of the pack. In a week which has seen sales drop across the board, those games which achieved only small sales decreases have seen a pleasant rise up the chart.
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones had a 17% drop in sales, but rises up six places to claim fourth in the chart, no doubt helped by retailers offering the game at very low prices. GTA: Liberty City Stories may be a PSP only title, but it continues to sell well with only an 18% drop in sales, seeing the game rise to No.6 in the chart.
Although it doesn’t appear on the full-price chart above, Shadow the Hedgehog also rose up the chart to No.7, thanks to some serious price cuts at retail. Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is this week’s big faller, dropping from fourth to fourteenth.
Next week is likely to be a similar story, with no new releases to shake up the chart.
