Rockstar’s GTA 5 earns its third week at No.1 with only a 31 per cent drop week-on-week, keeping FIFA 14 at No.2.

The two heavy hitters prove too much for Activision’s Skylanders: Swap Force which must settle for third place on its debut week. The bad news for Activision is that last year’s Skylanders Giants sold 35 per cent more than Swap Force has managed during its opening week. The Wii version proved most popular, accounting for 37 per cent of all Swap Force sales.

Pokemon X and Y drop to No.4 and No.5, respectively, followed by Beyond: Two Souls which recorded a 60 per cent drop in sales week-on-week.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition saw a 19 per cent sales boots, helping it secure its 17th consecutive week inside the Top 10.

F1 2013 takes eighth spot, Just Dance 2014 drops to No.9 and Disney Infinity managed a 20 per cent sales boost to take 10th.

SEGA and Nintendo’s Sonic: Lost World for Wii U and 3DS misses out on a Top 10 place at No.11.

Skylanders Swap Force was always going to struggle against Giant’s launch given the relatively high cost of the starter kit with this year’s game, rather than allowing existing portals to be used.

Batman Arkham Origins is sure to storm to the No.1 spot this time next week, with the supporting cast unlikely to cause much trouble on the chart. Of Just Dance Kids 2014, Rocksmith 2014, TMNT and Wii Party U, the latter has the best chance of a Top 10 thanks to its bundled Wii Remote Plus.
