Chart Track reports that Microsoft is back on top of the All Formats All Prices video game chart thanks to the release of Epic Games’ Gears of War 2. The game becomes the third largest week one title on Xbox 360, behind GTA 4 and Halo 3, and the eighth largest week one on all formats.
Sony’s LittleBigPlanet also got off to a good start, but was unable to match the sales of Gears 2, making its chart debut at No.4. Splitting the console exclusives are FIFA 09 at No.2 and Fallout 3 at No.3. THQ’s WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 is a new entry at No.5.
Nintendo’s Professor Layton and the Curious Village is new at No.6 on Nintendo DS, Mario Kart Wii is at No.7, Activision’s Quantum of Solace is down to No.8, PES 2009 can’t match the pace of FIFA and is at No.9, while Wii Fit slips to No.10.
Other new entries include Guitar Hero: World Tour at No.17, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift at No.29 and Ubisoft’s EndWar at No.30.
The coming week promises to be one of the busiest in UK video game history so expect plenty of change in next week’s chart. Look out for new entries from Call of Duty: World at War, Mirror’s Edge, Football Manager 2009, WoW: Wrath of the Lich King and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.
