EA’s Need for Speed Carbon powers to the top of the chart, replacing Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 6, but despite its release platform advantage only manages the most narrow of victories – little more than a 1000 units separate Carbon and PES.

Carbon on PS2 fails to match the numbers of Most Wanted, with first week sales of around 3/4 of last year’s release. Pro Evo 6 is still top of the PS2 chart, but falls from its Xbox 360 perch. With NFS Carbon, FIFA 07 and Sims 2 Pets EA now has three of the top four titles in the All Formats Chart.

Canis Canem Edit holds onto fifth place, with stable mate GTA: Vice City Stories making a solid start at No.6. Other new entries include Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade at No.9, Neverwinter Nights 2 at No.14, Marvel Ultimate Alliance at No.24, and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 at No.29.

This week sees the release of another batch of heavy hitters, most notably Call of Duty 3, F.E.A.R., Medieval II: Total War, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and WWE SmackDown! vs RAW 2007.
