UK sales figures for PS Vita were 61,000 units for the four days following its launch on February 22, analyst Nick Park has revealed.

“The PS Vita sold through to UK consumers 61k units in the four days of last week, not the 45k which has been in the press,” he tweeted.

Park didn’t reveal the source of this information, but added that it was “reliable”.

This figure represents a 33% increase over the earlier reported total.

Sony hasn’t released specific figures for territories, instead stating that 1.2 million units have been sold worldwide since the handheld launched in Japan last year.

PSP’s UK launch managed a huge 185,000 units back in September 2005. It retailed for £179.99, compared to the PS Vita’s £229.99.
