As part of its full year financial results posted earlier today, video game retailer GAME has revealed the UK life-to-date sales figures of all current gaming platforms.

Excluding the PS2, the Nintendo DS is the clear leader, having shifted 8.8 million units since its launch on March 11, 2005. The Wii holds second place, with 4.9 million units sold since its November 8, 2006 release.

In the high definition console war the Xbox 360 currently holds a significant lead over the PS3 – 3.2 million units compared to 1.9 million units. The Xbox 360 launched in the UK on December 2, 2005, while the PS3 arrived much later on March 23, 2007.

The PSP has sold 1.9 million units, while the PS2’s UK sales have topped 10 million units.
