Ubisoft has announced fourth quarter sales of â¬197 million, beating projected sales by â¬45 million. The better than expected sales are attributed to a number of factors.

Firstly Ubisoft points to strong sales of two key titles which launched during the quarter: GRAW 2 for Xbox 360 has moved 1 million units and TMNT across its eight release platforms has sold 1.1. million units.

Ubisoft also points towards continued success of games including Rainbow Six Vegas (1.7 million units since launch), Wii titles including Red Steel (950,000) and Rayman (830,000), and The Petz series which have sold 3.5 million units during the fiscal year.

Our fourth quarter performance was an excellent way to round off 2006-07, a year in which we exceeded all of our targets. We have not only confirmed the strong position of our key franchises Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rayman, and Rainbow Six but have also launched new brands in the form of Red Steel and Heroes of Might & Magic,” said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer of Ubisoft.

Looking ahead, first quarter 2007-2008 sales will be driven by the release of Surf’s Up, four new titles for Wii and DS, and Rainbow Six Vegas on PlayStation 3.

In 2007-08, Ubisoft will have the best line-up in its history with the launch of seven franchises including Brothers in Arms and Splinter Cell; six new brands, including Assassin’s Creed, EndWar and Haze; and four licensed games, including Surf’s Up, Lost and Naruto,” concluded Guillemot.
