Ubisoft has confirmed it has delayed the Splinter Cell Trilogy HD to September 23.

The publisher confirmed the delay in its latest release schedule sent to media. It was originally due to be released on July 22.

Splinter Cell Trilogy HD includes Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on one Blu-Ray disc.

The three games – based on the excellent PC originals – have been fully remastered in 720p with enhanced graphics, and support for stereoscopic 3D. Also Trophies, which you’ll pretend you don’t care about but secretly do.

Ubisoft is no stranger to producing HD collections on the PS3. Last year saw the publisher release the Prince of Persia Trilogy, and VideoGamer.com said “reliving the experience in HD is a glorious reminder of just what great games these are” in its Prince of Persia Trilogy review.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is easily the best Splinter Cell game to date. Sadly, the version of it they released on the 3DS the other month was awful. Hopefully this one will be better.
