Speaking to GameDaily, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has revealed he was not surprised by the love it or hate response from critics regarding the publisher’s hugely successful Assassin’s Creed.

“This game shows that our industry has reached a new level, and I’m not really surprised that it gets polarized critics, just as a strong movie would,” said Guillemot. “As you know, such a success with a totally new IP which took so many risks in order to redefine the genre is unprecedented.”

He also praised both Jade Raymond and Patrice Desilets, along with the rest of the Assassin’s Creed development team, stating they “did an excellent job”.

Speaking of Jade Raymond, Guillemot said the popular producer is now working on a new, unannounced title.

“I view Jade as a very skilled and creative producer, the success of Assassin’s Creed leaves no doubt about that and the attention she received from the media is due to the anticipation, buzz and quality of the game,” said Guillemot. “She’s currently working on a new project but it’s a little too early to share more about it.”

Assassin’s Creed is out now for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with PC and Nintendo DS versions scheduled for release across Europe on April 11.
