Ubisoft has officially announced Shaun White Snowboarding, a new action sports game in development for Xbox 360. PS3, PC and Wii.

Scheduled for release in Holiday 2008, Shaun White Snowboarding promises to break all former action sports video game notions and redefine the action sports genre.

The Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions are powered by the Assassin’s Creed engine and will feature a massive game world in which the action is driven by physics and not traditional animation.

Developed closely with Olympic Gold Medallist Shaun White, the game will enable players to enter a world of total freedom, where it will be possible to create experiences, choosing how, where and with whom they snowboard.

In Shaun White Snowboarding friends will always be around, whether you’re doing your own runs on a mountain populated by real gamers or joining friends for a quick session on any mountain. There’s much more than just riding too, with players able to have fun with friends on and off the board. This will include having snowball fights, hiking to secret locations and filming friends performing insane tricks. These filmed videos can then be uploaded and shared for the world to see.

Additionally a version for Wii is in development, which replaces the dual stick controls for motion controls using the Wii Balance Board – players will use their body to control carves, jumps and grinds.

The Wii game also features an exclusive storyline in which players travel the world to participate in crazy events to become a world-renowned snowboarder.

Multiplayer is always important in a Wii game and in Shaun White Snowboarding a seamlessly integrated multiplayer experience will enable up to four players to compete, with every player active at all times.
