Sega and Two Point Studios have announced that the console release of Two Point Hospital has been pushed into the first half of 2020.

Two Point Hospital is the spiritual successor of the kooky medical management sim, Theme Hospital, and is developed by a team of industry veterans at Two Point Studios. With experience on titles like Black & White, Theme Park, and Fable, the game sutures the charm and comedy of the original with wacky and punny new illnesses and epidemics.

The studio has collaborated with Red Kite Games to port the game to consoles, and work has been going swimmingly so far. Two Point Studios wants to make sure that everything is just right and players will experience no teething troubles with the Xbox, Switch, and PlayStation versions.

‘Our community have asked for Two Point Hospital on consoles for a while now and we want to make sure we deliver a game that can be enjoyed to the fullest on all platforms,’ said Mark Webley, game director and co-founder of Two Point Studios. ‘This means we will need a little bit more time to optimise the game to ensure the best possible experience across all platforms.’

Sega snapped up Two Point Studio earlier this year. ‘As a relatively new, British-based developer with a global hit already under their belts, we knew we had to move quickly on this deal because they are an extremely attractive investment proposition with a great deal of talent,’ president and COO of Sega Europe Gary Dale said at the time.

Two Point Hospital is out now for PC and has the co-op multiplayer mode ‘Superbug Initiative’, that lets players work together to make medical breakthroughs and fulfil challenges for new tech.
