Two Point Studios, the British developer behind Theme Hospital spiritual successor Two Point Hospital, has been aquired by publisher Sega, both companies have announced today.
Making the announcement via press release, the studio was founded in 2016 by ex-Lionhead staffers Gary Carr, Mark Webley and Ben Hymers and released the excellent Two Point Hospital in August last year.
Gary Dale, President and COO of Sega Europe said of the acquisiton: 'As a relatively new, British-based developer with a global hit already under their belts, we knew we had to move quickly on this deal because they are an extremely attractive investment proposition with a great deal of talent.'
Mark Webely, Two Point Studios' co-founder has remarked: 'It’s a hugely exciting time to be a part of Two Point and we are here today thanks to the hard work, passion and dedication of our small, but amazingly talented team here in Farnham and the incredible fans that have supported us throughout and guided our continued development of Two Point Hospital.'
Two Point Hospital itself recently launched a new co-operative multiplayer mode called the Superbug Initiative. The game is available on PC right now via Steam.
