Troy: A Total War Saga is the next entry to the Total War series, and has been officially confirmed for a PC launch in 2020.
The title ‘Troy: A Total War Saga’ was first thrown into the ring when publisher Sega filed a trademark for the name earlier this year. Then, a photo of PC Gamer magazine’s ‘world exclusive’ look at the new Total War was uploaded to Reddit yesterday, making it a ‘world inclusive’. But lots of people have worked very hard on this game, so we will pretend to be surprised for their sake.
Announcing A Total War Saga: TROY.
Are you ready to hold the fate of Aegean civilisation in your hands? Each choice you make will shape the lands from the mythical heights of Mount Olympus to the arid deserts of Lemnos.

Troy: A Total War Saga will be set in Ancient Greece, and explore the fact and fiction underpinning Homer’s Iliad through the eyes of historic Greek and Trojan warriors. Turn-based strategy and epic real-time battles will return as the core of Troy. ‘The battlefields will tremble under the feet of renowned warriors like Achilles and Hector but it will take more than brute force alone to lay claim to the legendary city of Troy,’ the game description states. ‘You will need to deftly manage a barter economy, conduct diplomacy among friends and foes, and direct the beliefs of your people in the worship of the gods, all before etching your name in the annals of history.’
The PC Gamer magazine cover teased ‘a world of gods and monsters’, and the game ‘embodies an age of legend’. Creative Assembly has kept it close to their chest as to whether mythological creatures will appear in the new game, but it has taken some creative license in other areas. Naval battles will be a feature — despite little evidence that the Trojans took to the seas — and it’ll be based on the mechanics of Total War: Warhammer 2’s Curse of the Vampire Coast DLC.
