Total War: Rome 2 will receive a Desert Kingdoms Culture Pack on March 8, developer Creative Assembly has announced. In addition, players will also be able to snap up a free update on the same day that adds playable female leaders into the mix.

Following up on the Empire’s Divided DLC from November, the Culture Pack will introduce three new playable factions native to the African and Arabian deserts: Kush, Saba, and Nabatea, plus the Numidian-based Masaesyli.

All four will boast new building chains and tech trees, plus unique Faction Traits. However, they all possess the same Cultural Traits, which offer a moral buff during desert conflicts and a boost in agriculture income.

Meanwhile, the new Female Leaders update rolls out multiple female figures of historical importance across all of Total War: Rome 2’s campaigns and factions. These include Cleopatra and Teuta as fully playable faction leaders, complete with unique voice overs and custom appearance.

‘In some cultures, like Rome and Greek, women can only serve a social/political role while in other women can be generals and fight alongside men,’ said Creative Assembly.

The Desert Kingdoms Culture Pack will set you back £6.99.Â
