Tomb Raider fans who pre-ordered the 1-3 Remastered Collector’s Edition created by Limited Run Games have finally started to receive their order after over a year of waiting with multiple delays, and fans seem to unanimously agree that the figurines included are unacceptably bad. What makes matters worse is that the Collector’s Edition cost £154/$199 to pre-order, and now the cost has been massively slashed to just £62/$81, albeit with the package still out of stock.

Limited Run Games confirmed on Twitter that the 1-3 Remastered Collector’s Edition is now shipping, showing images of the three polygonal figurines included, presumably from the best angle possible as they all look ungodly bad compared to the advertisement. The replies are not at all kind as many are understandably dumbfounded by the poor quality of the figurines, saying the “paint job is insulting,” they look like they were “scraped off a potato,” and accusing Limited Run Games of being “fraudsters”.

Aside from the three figurines based on Tomb Raider 1, 2, and 3, the Collector’s Edition also includes a steel book, soundtrack, three posters, premium trading cards, a map book, and “Lara Croft pistol replicas in a lit shadowbox”. YouTuber DXFromYT says the “rest of the package is fantastic,” but again the figures are laughably bad.

The frustration from Tomb Raider fans is understandable. The price was obscenely large and is now massively cut, the figurines look atrocious, and the steel book case and map book are both included in the much cheaper Deluxe edition. Collector’s Editions are always a gamble as there have been infamous examples in the past such as Fallout 76, which Pete Hines called “f***ng insulting” and the “dumbest thing I ever did at Bethesda”. Now the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Collector’s Edition isn’t quite as bad as Fallout 76, but it’s still pretty poor.

Outside of this terrible collector’s edition, there is better news for fans of Lara Croft. Amazon has confirmed they are “continuing” to help with the next AAA Tomb Raider game from Crystal Dynamics, and the PS2 port of Anniversary is coming to PS Plus Premium on November 18th. We’ve also been treated to a “sneak peek” of the Legend of Lara Croft Season 2 premiering for Netlfix on December 11th, suspiciously the same date as Geoff Keigley’s Game Awards.
