Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft’s team tactical shooter from 2015, will be getting a third year of support, including the first ever co-op event, Outbreak, plus two brand new maps and eight new operators to choose from.

Ubisoft has said that Year 3 for RB6 will be structured into four Seasons. The first season includes two new operators who are ‘specialists in biohazard situations’ and will be playable in both the regular multiplayer and the Outbreak event, which will be running for free for four weeks.

As well as eight new operators, the third year includes two new maps set in Italy and Morocco and a make over of an existing map, giving it new design and art direction. Full details on Outbreak and Operation Chimera will be revealed at the Six Invitational, which runs from February 16 to 18 next year.

More details on Year 3 will be coming soon, but, thank gawd, you’ll be able to buy the season pass from December 12.

Ubisoft was one of the first big companies to really pivot towards games as a service, and it seems to be working out for them so far.
