PS4 Pro launches on November 10, so you might be wondering what enhancements Titanfall 2 will include for Sony’s more powerful PS4. Respawn has revealed some information on the game’s PS4 Pro features, but also suggests launch software might not be making the most of the new platform.

“We did not get much of a heads up, like most people,” executive producer Drew McCoy said speaking to Stevivor. “So we didn’t get a tonne of time. Like no one even knew about it until….I don’t even know, but it was late. Since it’s just the PS4, but faster, it’s really not that hard to say ‘when running on PS4 do this, and when running on PS4 Pro do that.”

According to McCoy, the studio’s work on the PC version of Titanfall 2 has helped them implement improved settings for PS4 Pro:

“Because we also made the PC version, we have some knobs we can tweak, so we just spent some time making sure it still runs well and looks good on PS4 Pro. You know, making sure it doesn’t look any worse at all. That’s the requirement: it can’t run any worse or look worse than on PS4. So it runs better, looks better and has no bugs on PS4 Pro.”

Some confusion about the resolution of Titanfall 2 on PS4 Pro had lead to the belief that the game’s dynamic resolution scaling would result in presentation at less than 1080p. Respawn has since posted on NeoGAF to clarify that this isn’t the case:

“Yes it runs higher than 1080p on PS4Pro.

“(Not sure how explicit we can be yet, but wanted to correct that at least.)”

Sony’s PS4 Pro seems to be arriving without much fanfare, and the news on Titanfall 2’s Pro support is slightly worrying. While it’s great to hear about games launching ahead of Pro that will feature support for the console, the suggestion that a developer as high profile as Respawn being informed about the system quite late on is a concern. It may well be some time until we see PS4 games making full use of the PS4 Pro’s graphical grunt.
